Design drawings are supposed to show what the upcoming iPhone 15 will look like. If they are correct, it will have a larger display and the notch will be replaced by the Dynamic Island like in the current Pro models. Allegedly real photos confirm two important changes.

After allegedly real CAD drawings revealed or confirmed details about the Pro variant of the iPhone 15 recently, construction plans that are supposed to show the design of the standard model come from the same source. And again, photos that possibly show a prototype of the device appear on the Internet almost at the same time.

The drawings, which presumably come from a factory that produces protective cases for the upcoming Apple smartphones, were again published by Max Weinbach and based on them, he had a graphic designer create 3D images for „9to5Mac“.

Dynamic Island instead of wide notch

According to the graphics, even the simple new iPhones will no longer have a wide notch. Instead, they will get the Dynamic Island like the current Pro models. This means that the notch in the display is smaller, since part of the sensors are hidden under the panel. Also, the smaller notch is camouflaged by being integrated into a field for displaying activities.

The innovation was expected, as it is a common practice of Apple to reserve improvements for the Pro devices first and then implement them on the standard models a year later.

Likewise, it is not a big surprise that according to the graphics, the regular iPhone 15 will most likely have a USB-C port just like the Pro variant. This is not only due to a corresponding EU decision. Apple also has to replace the good old Lightning jack because it only allows data rates on USB 2.0 level, i.e. up to 480 megabits per second (Mbps). In contrast, up to 40 gigabits per second (Gbit/s) are already possible with USB-C sockets, and even 80 Gbit/s with USB 4.0.

Somewhat more surprising is that the iPhone 15 is supposed to have a larger screen than before with 6.2 inches. The current model has a 6.1-inch display.

It is no surprise that the CAD drawings do not show that the iPhone 15 will only have touch surfaces instead of physical buttons. This is probably an innovation that will set the new Pro models apart from the standard devices.

It is probably no coincidence that, once again, almost at the same time as the CAD drawings, leaker Unknownz21 published photos on Twitter that allegedly show an early prototype of the iPhone 15. The reduced notch and the USB-C port can be seen on them.
